Area Medium Income (AMI)
Area Medium Income is the medium income for households in that area adjusted for inflation. It is then rounded to the nearest hundred. This is updated annually. If someone earns 100% of their AMI, then they earn the same as their area medium income. The basic AMI is for 4 people. Here is an example from Sandy Springs in 2022

Low Income, Very Low Income, and Extremely Low Income
According to the HUD, low-income means 80% or less than the AMI, and very low income is 50% or less. For image credits and more information, go here
